Come In
Therapeutic Massage in NW Portland, OR
Intuitive. Clinical. Built around what your body actually needs.
Your Sanctuary.
Every session is different because every body is different.
After 22 years of practice, I have learned to trust what a body tells me over what a menu says it needs. Whether you come in carrying chronic neck and shoulder tension from a desk job, pain from an injury that has never fully resolved, or just a need to be still and quiet for an hour without the rest of your life following you in, I listen first. Then I build the session around that.
I created this practice as a place where the work is genuinely tailored to you, not to a script. That means the session you leave will sometimes look different from the one you described when you arrived. That is not a deviation. That is the point.
I am Christina Rivlin, LMT - License #16344, and I have been practicing therapeutic massage in NW Portland for over 22 years. My studio is at 325 NW 21st Ave, Suite 203, in the heart of Nob Hill, steps from the Pearl District. Most people come once and come back every month.
Soothing life’s stresses with a rejuvenating touch.
Over 20 years of listening to my clients
I have been a licensed massage therapist for over 20 years, and the thing that has not changed in all that time is this: I listen. To what you tell me in the intake. To what your body tells me while I work. To what shifts mid-session when the tissue finally starts to release.
Early in my career, a temporary detour into nursing only deepened my appreciation for what massage can do, and why it matters. I came back to this work with a clearer understanding of the body and a stronger conviction that what most people need is not a standard treatment. It is someone who can meet them exactly where they are.
I trained in a deliberately wide range of modalities, including deep tissue massage, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, prenatal massage, and motor vehicle accident recovery. I wanted to be able to draw on whatever a client actually needed rather than fitting every person into the same approach.
Twenty-two years later, I still do. What I have learned through training and through working with hundreds of bodies in this studio is that the best session is never the one that follows a script. It is the one crafted specifically for you, in the moment, with everything I know brought to bear on what your body is telling me right now.
I practice out of a private studio in NW Portland. Monday through Friday. No front desk. No waiting room full of strangers. Just the work that makes you feel better.
I use what I have learned through education and my many years of experience to craft a massage that is perfect for you.
Why Alacrity Massage & Wellness is right for you
One of my greatest assets in the room is my intuition, which is informed by 22 years of working with hundreds of bodies. I have developed the ability to listen carefully to what you tell me in the intake, and to what your tissue tells me as we work. Just as important, you know your body better than anyone. What you notice during the session, what feels different, what feels familiar, where a release actually lands, all of that shapes where we go next. The session is a conversation, a kind of dance, between your experience and my clinical expertise, with both holding equal weight.
In practice, that means we always start in the area you came in for. If your shoulder is what is actively bothering you, that is where we begin. From there, we follow what we find together. Sometimes that leads us to your hips, because the shoulder tension is rooted in a pattern further down. Sometimes we stay right where we started. It means I will ease back mid-session if your nervous system needs to settle before deeper work is possible. It means I draw on deep tissue technique, myofascial release, craniosacral work, and relaxation in whatever combination your body is asking for that day.
About 90 percent of people who come to see me once become regular monthly clients. That number says more than any description can.

Client Reviews
“Christina’s massage techniques are a huge part of why I have never felt better in my body then I do today, and why I live a pain-free life... Christina is not only a very intuitive healer, she also understands the body both medically and anatomically. This makes a big difference and it is why she is not like any other massage therapist I have worked with in the past. Christina is simply the best.”
— Laure Redmond
“After a weekend class that left me with migraine like tension in my neck and jaw, I scheduled a massage session with Christina. She was a miracle worker! I walked out of the session feeling awake and able to tackle the week ahead pain free!”
— Jennifer H., Recruiter
“I would classify myself as someone that is pretty frugal... my friend purchased me a gift certificate to see Christina... it was the best massage I've ever had. Ever since I've been going at least twice a month.”
